Flame Arrester is Safety Device acts as the last line defense in event of the Explosions that ensures safety of your chemical plant & chemical processing equipments.

Fidicon Flame Arrester are reliable, with clear technical aspects and minimal pressure drops on running flowline, our products have been significantly used in many different industries and we have served giants among the industries.

Flame Arresters Categorized by Construction:

  1. In-of-line Bi-Directional Flame Arrester
    1. Concentric Type
    2. Eccentric Type
  2. End-of-Line Flame Arrester
    1. Concentric Type

How ever, apart from construction, Flame arresters are mainly categorized by its Application, which are :

  • Deflagration
  • Detonation
  • Short Time Burn
  • Endurance Burn

END OF LINE - FLAME ARRESTER

End-of-Line Deflagration Flame Arrester is installed where it is not necessary to conserve vapors but where low-flash point liquids must be protected against fire and explosion from exterior sources of ignition. The flame arrester is mounted on the end of a vent pipe from the tank. Vapors are allowed to escape into the atmosphere and air can be drawn into the tank through the specially designed flame arrester grid assembly. If an ignition source outside the tank (unconfined deflagration) is encountered, the flame arrester provides protection for the tank's vapor space.

End-of-line flame arresters are always explosion-proof by definition, since there is virtually no distance between the ignition point and the location of the flame arrester. They protect the tank or the pipe from the possible recoil of the flame coming from the outside in case of aspiration during the emptying of the tank. They are installed in the vents or at the end of the pipes. They are designed to prevent a possible spot deflagration (caused by lightning, a spark, an electric shock) from entering the tank when the tank is breathing in during emptying, at which time a flame from outside could enter inside to the tank.

IN OF LINE - DETONATION FLAME ARRESTER

The flame arresters capable of extinguishing a flame front confined in a gallery, which moves at a lower speed than Sound (subsonic velocities),belong to this category. with Deflagration to Detonation Transition (DDT), flame speed reaches super sonic velocity resulting in auto ignition of the gas at overdriven detonation stage. In this transition we can observe flame propagation speed always above supersonic speed and up to 10 / 15 times of that, with relatively high pressures, over 150 bar in many cases.

There is no such proven method that defines exact situation where this transition can happen. So, about selection criteria between deflagration & detonation type, The maximum distance is not fix between ignition point and installation point of flame arrester (extinguisher) in general L/D ratio have been observed >50 in detonation requirements. For expert advice enquire us for guidance and selection queries so our technical leads can guide you for your specific requirements.

IN OF LINE - ECCENTRIC FLAME ARRESTER

The flame arresters capable of extinguishing a flame front, available in both category of deflagration and detonation of the flame arresters. It's beneficial against requirement of installing product near to close surface area (close to ground / nearby wall).

The maximum distance allowed between the ignition point and the extinguisher is 50 times the diameter of the pipe, and 30 times for the IIC (hydrogen) groups.
